Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Folk rock, jazz, vocals, classical, rock, blues, rockabilly.
System Goals/Comments: It took me > 30 years to get here...I just wanna enjoy it. The speakers were approaching state of the art in the early 1990s, and have a well tweaked crossover of very high grade parts...as the system has evolved, they just keep sounding better.
System Strengths: This system has excellent clarity and separation, a huge wide sound stage with delicate detail that's open and natural. Vocals float with very low coloration, very low sibilants, and lots of "aaaahhhh" factor. Impressive sound, but not an "in your face" manner....it's well behaved, very easy and inviting to listen to. Poor man's high-end on a budget tastefully done.
System Weaknesses: High volume ain't happening...100-103db tops, but I almost never go there. Floor is suspended ply over joists, and makes noise when walked on, so it is likely a factor in bass at higher volumes. It's an old school stereo system not integrated with the flat screen TV, but man that would be fun for movies!
Video/HT System: None
TV/Projector: SONY 55" flatscreen
Sources (DVD/VCR): Phillips
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Woodworking, speaker building, tube amp/guitar amp buiding, PC building, water skiing
