Last Update: February 24, 2001 at 21:49:12 IP Address:
Amplifier: Audiolab 8000a MkII
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: Proac Tablette 50 Sig's Blue Tacked on Target Reference 24 stands.
CD Player/DAC: Micromega Leader II
Turntable/Phono Stage: Rega Planer 3, Blue Point Special cartridge.
Other Source(s): Rio Volt portable cd player. Not the greatest sounding with mp3's, but it's great fun. Have an old set of Kimber PBJ's I wasn't using hooked up for the portable.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Transparent Super Interconnects/ Discovery 123 Speaker Cables terminated for Biwiring. I don't care what people say, but I can really hear the difference in my system with these cables and interconnects.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Target B4
Tweaks: Black Diamond Racing cones under components/ Assorted other tweaks, i.e., Bendini Clarifier, CD Mats, Treatments, etc..
Room Size (LxWxH): 14' x 11' x 8'
Room Comments/Treatments: Roomtunes basic setup. Can't remember the kit name off hand. (corner, echo, sides, etc..)
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): All types of music except pop, country and rap. I'm especially hooked on female vocalists (Patricia Barber, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Holly Cole, etc...) I grew listening to alternative music, i.e., REM, The Cure, Depeche Mode, etc.. Pretty mainstream these days though. ;)
System Goals/Comments: This is my dedicated 2 channel system. I'd like to add tube amplification, upgrade my digital and phono. Possibly add a REL sub to the Proac's. Money permitting of course.
System Strengths: Speakers
System Weaknesses: Digital stage is getting a little dated. Would like to have a sub for more bass intensive music, but don't miss the bottom octave most of the time. Can always listen to it on the A/V system, car, computer..
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Sony Wega XBR 36"
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: HK AVR30 Dolby Pro Logic Receiver.
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): PSB Alphas all the way around and PSB Subsonic 1
Sources (DVD/VCR): Panasonic DVD-RV30 Monster Silver S-Video cable
Other HT Gear: Older Sony Hifi VCR. Don't know the model. Was one of top models back in early 90's. Monster Silver video RCA on the VCR as well.
Comments on HT System: Would love to jump up to Dolby Digital, DTS and get better quality amplification, though the HK does fine for movies. The screen on the Sony XBR is gorgeous!
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: I'm really getting into mp3's lately. I know the quality isn't there, but it's fun to download and try all sorts of music. I love burning a disc of 150 mp3's and playing it in the background.
