Amplifier: HK 3380
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: JBL L-88 modified box, crossover and replaced old paper tweeter with JBL brylium tweeters
DIY speakers based on Dennis Murphy's Blasters and a DIY 10" sub. For the TV a DIY soundbar with a 8" woofer with an internal plate amp.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony DVP-Sr200P
Turntable/Phono Stage: Pioneer pl12d turntable
Other Source(s): Old pioneer dual deck cassette player. Hasn't been used in years
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Homemade and/or generic. But not super thin and cheap.
Tweaks: see above
Room Comments/Treatments: LR JBL 88's on built in bookcases around the fireplace, Both perpendicular wall open up into large arches into other rooms. So essentially no side walls. Room about 13'x15' with 9' ceilings speakers on 13' wall.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, Jazz, classical rock
System Goals/Comments: Would like to get into streaming a a DAC at a reasonable cost. Some years ago I ripped a bunch of Vinyl to CDs and put some on a HD with the intention of making my own Music server from an old PC.
System Strengths: Modifications to JBL measure very nicely in the room. Using Parts-Express measurement mic and software, They start at 40HZ with bit of a spike and go down about 5dB and from about 70Hz smooth out to +/- 3dB till about 4K with a small bump and drop off about 5dB around 12K
System Weaknesses: Don't use it that much because of not completing a PC server and old input devises are a but obsolete and a pain to use. Modern streamers seem the way to go.
Video/HT System: Separate
