Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classic Rock, Jazz, Frank Zappa, Grateful Dead, female vocals, reggae, blues, some classical - a variety
System Goals/Comments: Refinement and realism that sets in at moderate volumes (like a good tube system should)
System Strengths: 15 years of thoughtful horse-trading has resulted in a very satisfying system that leaves me wanting for nothing. A local rock band comes over to audition their CDs to find out what they actually sound like. Imaging and definition combine to produce 3D holographic sound - the magic of the Merlins.
System Weaknesses: Can't quite move air like a pair of 10" woofers but the 10" sub REALLY helps. There can be minor glare or congestion with loud, complex passages. I think one sub is far easier to integrate into a room with proper phase than two; YMMV
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Panasonic TCP46G10 plasma c. 2009
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Marantz SR6013
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Klipsch RP-600m with matching center and SVS PB-1000 sub
Sources (DVD/VCR): Panasonic UB820K Streaming Blu-ray Player
Oppo BDP-103 Streaming Blu-ray Player with LPS upgrade
Other HT Gear: Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray Player with LPS upgrade
Comments on HT System: Not my passion - BluRay and a 46" plasma is FINE
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Playing electric guitar and making music
