Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Arcam Alpha 5+
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Cardas, Axon IC, MIT, Monster Cable, homebrew speaker cables
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Target
Tweaks: Delrin blocks on CD player, preamp, home brew power cords for CD player and amps, Hubbel
Room Size (LxWxH): 24 x 12 x 7
Room Comments/Treatments: Semi-finished basement, very reflective, needs a little damping
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Some classics, jazz (as long as it doesn't go too crazy on me), rock, blues, soundtracks, Sinatra, Warwick, Bacharach. Did I miss hip hop? Good.
System Goals/Comments: Will get back into analog, maybe get a new transport/DAC, Build new speakers with either Accutons or Mangers, perhaps some small line arrays. Upgrade my electronic XO. Checking out other amps too.
System Strengths: Midrange to-die-for, very transparent, a soundstage that renders my walls invisible, hypnotic
System Weaknesses: Room has lots of hard surfaces, SMGa might be showing signs of age -- lacks a bit of sparkle compared to the new QRs, lack of analog section, listening chair not the most comfortable and no cup holder. System makes me lose track of time a lot.
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Graphic artist, dad of 3 boys. Play basketball, volleyball, pingpong, soccer, watch Formula 1, watch Sesame Street with kids, playing with my childen in the park, listen to music whenever I can, build speakers.
