Roi de Myphi's Old Guy Audio - Office System System
Last Update: July 22, 2002 at 18:47:01 IP Address: 65.45.240.106
Amplifier: McIntosh 2505 (This is the first solid state power amplifier from McIntosh. It introduced many of the features Mac amp’s are still using today. It was the first to have an all glass front panel, the first to have “blue eyes” power meters, the first to use pacloc mounting, the first to have Sentry Monitor circuitry and the first solid state amp to use autoformers.)
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): McIntosh C26 (First Mac product designed by Roger Russell.)
Speakers: Bose 901 Series II (Please don't tell me how much you don't like these speakers.)

AR-1's

Sources:
CD Player/DAC: ReVox B225 CD Player

Plextor CD-R

Mitsumi CD

Turntable/Phono Stage: Beogram 1900 with MMC 4000 cartridge
Other Source(s): ReVox A77 Reel to Reel Tape Recorder

Marantz 120 Tuner

Windows Network with lots of storage and 64-bit sound cards, 64 bit Gigabit network cards.

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Monster Cable for the speakers, some standard RCA cables for the componets, some upgraded RCA interconnects (if you pay and much as I did you can't call them cables!) fibre and 100baseT cables for the network stuff.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): None, except backup power to use during the next black out here in California.
Room Size (LxWxH): 60 feet x 25 feet x 18 feet
Room Comments/Treatments: Painted brick walls, lots of windows, book cases, carpet and a big pool table! A lowly computer guy’s original art collection on the walls.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Most types, sorry can't really get into rap.
System Goals/Comments: Multi-channel, lossless sources (lossy compression just doesn't fly here). No problem with bandwidth as we have fibre and tons of hard drive space.
System Strengths: Lots of old stuff tied into a modern high speed network. The Mac stuff as been rock solid.
System Weaknesses: Lots of old stuff. Need a bigger amp, but I had this one since 1973 and well can't give it up. The 901's are too much fun to replace. And of course the computer stuff would drive most people nuts, but I am a computer guy and have to make a living.
Video/HT System: None

Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Computer guy, motorcycles, going to the SF Ballet and drinking lots of wine with My Little Myphi!
