Last Update: February 26, 2002 at 14:56:33 IP Address: 209.227.119.2
Amplifier: Arcam 8P 100w 4ohm 15Amp peak current

($489)

Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Pioneer 850S ac3/DTSes reciever
Speakers: Maggie MMG ($550)
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Panasonic rp91-k DVD-A/Ram/CD-R/CD-RW/MPEG player. ($435)
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Rat Shack 12ga speaker cable, Straight Wire Rhapsody interconnects, RF Ferrite cores all over the place. QVX optical connectors for Xbox and DirecTV Ultimate TV box, Rat Shack (pretty good quality) Digital Coax cable between dvd and reciever.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monster Power HTS2000 (Damn good investment! Best $149 I ever spent! Brought the soundstage back a little but music is alot more enjoyable with this unit in place. My FM reception even got better!)
Tweaks: Replaced Maggie Stands with 6x6" inverted T stands made from A66 corner braces. Tweak found in the Maggie Tweak section.
Room Size (LxWxH): 16 x 12.5 x 9
Room Comments/Treatments: Speaker labs 3 way ported speakers in the corners of the room to control some resonances. (It actually made a difference) Furniture all over the place and rugs. Nothing special YET. >:)
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Accustic rock, jazz just about everything except country.
System Goals/Comments: Only goals at this point would be to try out different gear once my income permits it. Otherwise this is the happiest I have been with my system. It sounds great even though I have a Pioneer reciever being used as a pre amp for my 2 channel material. I find music very enjoyable through this.
System Strengths: Smooth midrange, clear detailed sound all around, well recorded material really get your attention. It gets everyones toes tapping and the ladies can't help but get up and dance.
System Weaknesses: Only weaknesses are lack of matching Maggies surrounds and center channel. I don't use a center and I don't have the space to give a set of maggie surrounds the breathing room they would need.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Panasonic Tau SX10 27" - ($480)
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Pioneer 850S AC3/DTSes 7.1 reciever.
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): ROR D's for surrounds.
Sources (DVD/VCR): Panasonic rp91k
Comments on HT System: Sounds great. It's no Meridian all digital system but then again most movie theaters in NYC sound worse than a properly setup Meridian system and in most cases worse than my setup. So I don't know what is supposed to be the right sound. All I know is there have been no complaints from guests or myself, just pure enjoyment. Until I get a bigger space the only thing I'll worry about is a matching rear center speaker.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Computers, billiards, and I work for a software company in NYC.
