Music Preferences and Comments: | |
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Anything/Everything. Too numerous and varied to list. Qualifier: it affects me in such a way that I simply respond, 'I *enjoy* this music/song/performance'. |
System Goals/Comments: | To involve me in the music: with new music I'm not familiar with, or with music I think I know intimately. To reproduce as accurately as possible whatever instrument/sounds are in the source material. To make me respond: 'Wow-this is what the terms 'Involving', 'Musical', 'Dimensional Purity', 'Soundstage', 'Air & Space/Seperation of Instruments', 'Tonal correctness', etc. mean. to distinguish the differences b/w a twelve/six-string guitar, nylon strings; a full/baby grand piano; etc. To ultimately realize that all this freaking money, time, and effort spent on this hobby/passion/addiction is *worth* it (maybe)! To be able to have a system/set-up where I have the legitimate opportunity to hear any potential differences with any and all changes within the system. May consider a return to monoblock amplification as well as a desire for true SET amplification at some point. Would add Billy Bags rack (if money was no object): after 'seeing' them in person they seem to be the most solid/sturdy racks. Room environment could be improved through set-up (furniture, rugs, materials that room is constructed with, etc.) and more consideration on treatment. I eventually want a completely dedicated 'listening room'. |
System Strengths: | Full-size and -bodied sound; nice soundstaging and musical conveyance/sound reproduction. Any potential upgrades/tweaks must build on system synergy, room environment, and what my ears tell me. |
System Weaknesses: | Sometimes feel like I want more power (eg. when I'm trying to crank-up The Beastie Boys!). Room Treatment/Set-up: The Final Frontier. |
Video/HT System: None |
