pburant's Not superb, not junk System
Last Update: December 03, 2004 at 07:55:41 IP Address: 12.110.146.33
Amplifier: B&K AV 5000 Series 2 (125Wx5)
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): B&K Reference 20
Speakers: B&W DM604 (Series 1) 90db sensitivity
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony DVP-S9000ES
Other Source(s): Crappy Digital (HD) feed from Comcast run thru a crappy digital HDTV cable box courtesy of Motorola.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: All monster. Apparently Tweeter follows the Microsoft marketing model (Where do you want to go today?...doesn't matter to us, we're sending you to hell).
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monster Reference PowerCenter HTS-5000. Heavily modified - will make a nice boat anchor when I get around to building my own balanced power unit.
Tweaks: Effective isolation of components via DIY rollerblocks and Symposium clones. DIY shelfless rack made of composite materials.
Room Size (LxWxH): 17' x 11' x 7'6
Room Comments/Treatments: 6 full size Jon Risch tube traps (2@18' diameter, 3@14', 1@12'). Three modified Risch absorber panels.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Moderate rock, jazz
System Goals/Comments: Keep making it more and more transparent via tweaks.
System Strengths: Good sound from modest equipment.
System Weaknesses: Plenty - noise, distortion, digititis, room issues.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Sony XBR400 36' (HD)
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: B&K Ref 20, B&K AV 5000
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Mains listed above, Polk ctr speaker (don't know model - two 4' mids and one 1' tweet, small rear port), Boston Acoustics A60 rear speakers, M&K V125 subwoofer (125W powered, shielded)
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sony DVP-S9000ES
Other HT Gear: 2nd to cheapest stereo VCR sold at WalMart. It's only for taping Simpsons reruns and Crank Yankers.
Comments on HT System: Not a movie buff or videophile, so this is better than good enough for me.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: I love driving my 2001 Corvette convertible...who wouldn't?
