Turntable/Phono Stage: Souther Engineering SLA-3 Linear-drive Arm.

Kuetsu Black MC Cartridge, VPI HW-19 T.T.

Other Source(s): Revox Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder and Akai 3- head cassette tape deck.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Monster Powerline2 Speaker Cables. ARC Phono-Preamp Interconnects. MIT MT330 Hi Res Interface analogs out from 777es, MIT Terminator3 Digital Out from 777es to MSB DAC III, Monster Reference A Interconnects.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): ESP Electronic Specialists Lab-Grade KleenLine AC Filter-Suppressors for all electronics. MIT Zcord II Replacement Power Cords for ESL63 Speakers, Sony 777es & MSB P-1000 P.S.
Tweaks: Preamp's monitor circuit can switch in (or bypass) an Acoustic Research Electronic Remote Control for volume control and a Carver "Sonic Hologram" which sometimes expands the soundstage width. Don't seem to degrade the signal noticeably.
Room Size (LxWxH): 22' x 17' x 8'
Room Comments/Treatments: No special acoustic treatment. Wall-to-wall wool carpeting, heavy ceiling-to-floor draperies along one long wall, overstuffed sofa and chairs.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical (Chamber, Symphonic, Operatic), Jazz, Blues, some Pop vocals. Acoustic instrumental(Don't care for synthesized, rock or rap). I really like DSD SACD recordings, but too few available in my desired music.
System Goals/Comments: This is mostly a vintage tube/electrostatic system which has continued to please me for many years. Have a pair of rear Bozak infinite-baffle 3-way console speakers in place but no longer used or hooked up. I'm considering getting a Sony XA-777es SACD for multichannel music audio utilizing the Bozaks at the rear and a Threshold 100A left-over Class A stereo amp.
System Strengths: Very musical and "airy" for my type of music and source material.

System Weaknesses: Bass could be tighter (tubes).
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Sony VLP-VW-10HT LCD Overhead Projector. DaLite Cinema Vision 106" HDTV Screen.
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Meridian 561 Controller. MIT Digital Reference Cable. Meridian Digital speaker Interconnects. MIT analog Interconnects.
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): All 8 Digital Meridian..Front L&R: DSP 5500, Ctr: DSP 5000, SW: DSP 2500, L&R Sides & Rear: DSP 33.
Sources (DVD/VCR): C-Band 12' Satellite Dish,G.I. 4DTV Sat Rcvr.

G.I. HD-100 High-Def Sat Decoder. Sony DVP-S9000es SACD/CD/DVD. JVC HR-S7500U Super VHS-ET, Pioneer DVL-700 DVD/LD/CD. Sony SF-HL900 Super Beta VCR.

Other HT Gear: Magnum Dynalab FT-101 FM Tuner. MSB ADD-1 ADC 24/96 Digitizer. SIMA SCC Video Switcher. MIT Zcord 2 Replacement Power Cords for DSP Speakers and 561 Controller. ESP AC Kleen-Line Surg Suppressors-filters for all electronics..

Comments on HT System: The Meridian all-digital audio is first-class for digital satellite and DVD,BUT SACD and DVD-A analog outputs have to be reconverted to digital and the Meridian 561 has only a 20-bit ADC processor (altho a very good one).I can use the MSB ADD 24/96 ADC digitizer to feed the SACD to the front DSP 5500's for Stereo only. The only solution I know of now for getting the digital output from SACD is the super expensive Meridian 800 DVD linked to the super expensive 861 controller. So for now, for music-only listening, I prefer my music room analog ARC tubes/Quad electrostats system.

The satellite HBO and Showtime HDTV through the Sony projector is spectacular(There are better projection black levels with DLP or CRT).

Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: 73 yr. retired radiologist. Audiophile since the mono days of the 50's. No longer a Golden-Ear. Now a videophile. Photography enthusiast (now digital also).
