Amplifier: | Dynaco ST-70 |
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): | None. I have successfully removed this component from the signal chain, using a direct connection between my phono pre-amp and my amp. |
Speakers: | Quad ESLs (rebuilt by PK) |
Sources: | |
CD Player/DAC: | None. I'm pretty much an analog guy |
Turntable/Phono Stage: | E.A.R. 834p Garrard 301 (Full Dobbins treatment) Tri-Planar VII Ultimate Edition arm Lyra Helikon SL |
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: | TG Power Cord Tom Evans Groove Tube interconnect Naim NACA5 speaker cable |
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): | Ikea Expedit and Target stands |
Tweaks: | I run my EAR 834p (in MM mode) directly into my Dynaco ST-70 with no volume control. The gain is carefully set throughout my signal chain so that the single volume is not too loud and not too soft |
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Rock and Roll, Soul, Reggae, Punk, and a bit of classical, jazz, and opera. |
System Goals/Comments: | I want a system with solid engineering and design in the chassis. Chuck the snake oil, magazine review hype, and overpriced sonic drek. Get what you like and what sounds close to real. |
System Strengths: | This is a "high value" minimalist system. My system now sounds a ton better than megabuck systems that I have heard (and owned) in the past. |
System Weaknesses: | Polluted energy from the wall |
Video/HT System: None | |
