Amplifier: Atma-Sphere MA-1 mkII.2 OTL Tube Mono Amps
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Sonic Frontiers Line 3 Tube Preamp
Speakers: Sound Lab Aura
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Krell MD-2, Meridian 563 DAC
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Straight Wire Interconnects, PAD Colossus Rev A speaker cable
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): ADCOM ACE-515 Conditioner, ARCICI Suspense Rack
Room Size (LxWxH): 14 x 11 x 8-12
Room Comments/Treatments: Roomtune TunePack
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, Jazz, Rock, New Age
System Goals/Comments: I wanted to go after the proverbial "straight-wire with Gain" and use the unique synergy that an OTL amp and Sound Lab electrostat can have. The A-S OTL amps have no output transformer and no circuit boards. There lack of hardly any circuitry means they produce music with great speed.
System Strengths: One of the most realistic, quick, and clear sounds - very musical without losing much accuracy. Music has very good pace.
System Weaknesses: The background was not as quiet as I would have liked, and not as analytical as I would have preferred. Living with those hot running Atma-Sphere amps can be a real challenge in the summer.
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Aviation and Formula 1
