Amplifier: Ayre V3 ss power amp

100wrmsx2@8ohms

200wrmsx2@4ohms

I was originally loaned this after my Mesa Baron went in for a re-tube.

I heard the Ayre and fell in love with it. It just sounds 'Right'

Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Sony TAP-9000ES 6 ch. analog pre-amp for 2 channel redbook and Dvda etc.

A Very Transparent preamp.

This is one superb pre amp and really great value ,well done Sony!

The Tap9000es i have is a 120 volt US model so to power it I took a 120 volt feed out of the PowerPlant 300 (before the PP300s output transformer)It really sounds Great.

Well actually this pre has NO sound of its own. Seriously, i was amazed .

Speakers: Von Schweikert Research VR4.5s.

6ohms/ 91db /20-25khz The Legends still goin strong !

20-20khz,

91db@1w/1m.

6 ohms imp.

They sound like electrostats , only with Balls, Bass and great dispersion!

Yes,I LOVE these speakers.(and i have had them over 4 years now! A record for me ;-))

Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Phillips CDR765 ,heavily damped, the player of this twin deck recorder makes a very good transport, As good as my old EAD T1000 anyway.

Bolder Cables 'MensaPlus Art Di/o'DAC

Amazing dac with Bolder PS, Wayne at Bolder has a Very very good ear. I sold my EAD Dsp9000 mk3 when i heard Bolders SmArt Di/o and pocketed some cash! No regrets at all.

1x Shakti Stone on top of the Art Di/O, it stops the Di/o tipping up from the weght of the cables, i think it helps the depth a bit too :-).

Turntable/Phono Stage: None, the Linn is long gone.

Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): PS Audio Power Plant 300 (240 volt export version)on spikes on the floor,multiwave2 and fan . It improves everything powered from it, even here (rural area). We custom made a 6.5ft wide rack out of thick Marine Ply and Threaded Rods/nuts that lays the components out horizontally on 2 shelves We used large plumbers 'plum bobs'as giant spikes bolted under it all.
Tweaks: Air suspsention via 3 opposed force Magnetic feet under Cd transport. Combak Harmonix RFS66 tuning feet under the two preamps . Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): all kinds of things but no Rap or top 40 .
System Goals/Comments: To let the music truly connect with me, or vicea versa ;-)
System Strengths: Huge holograhic soundstage, Great Pace & dynamics ,Very deep tight bass. detailed yet natural mid and hi's. Plays at hi volume without getting tiresome, (a must here sometimes) Even MP3s blow my (nonaudiophile) guests away on this system. HA!

System Weaknesses: None that i hear , but i am sure it can go further ;-) I would love to Bi-amp the VR4.5s and i hope to get the VR5 upgrade someday soon.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Sanyo PLV-Z1 widescreen LCD projector ,this kind of LCD performance cost 3 times this only a couple of years ago. Brilliant! (literally)
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Sony TAE-9000ES AV pre-amp, Sony TAN-9000ES 5 ch power amp does duty on rear chanels and 6 Aura shakers in the two couches. ( FUN ! But, good for movie SEffects only )

Sources (DVD/VCR): Omni DV5000, DVDA & Progressive PAL !! Its got a better pic than my previous Sony 900v and was a LOT cheaper too. Looks JUst like a new Panasonic here. God bless the Chinese :-)

Other HT Gear: Sat TV

decoder ,the Power Plant300 helps this alot too.

Comments on HT System: This IS spectacular.I read a posting on AA once that said; you "get the music right and your explosions come for free" very true imho
