Last Update: October 13, 2002 at 07:42:15 IP Address: 68.6.154.37
Amplifier: B.A.T. monoblock vk 60's
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): B.A.T. V.K. 5i/ and V.K.P. 5 phono
Speakers: Klipsch KLF 20's (Don't laugh, these sound FANTASTIC! when set up properly.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony SCD 1
Turntable/Phono Stage: Rega P9 / RB 900/ Clearaudio Virtuoso mm (aluminum body)
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Spkr.Cardas Neutral Ref. biwired/ phono Cardas Golden Ref./Nordost SPM links the rest
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): PS Audio H.C. Outlets (one for the amps, and one before P.S. Audio 300) P.S. Audio Lab cables one each for Ultimate Audios and one each for amps. P.S. mini labs for pre and phono. Shunyata King Cobra for SCD 1.
Tweaks: Sanus Systems shot filled rack (in the corner behind one speaker)
Room Size (LxWxH): 26 ft x 14 ft x 17 ft
Room Comments/Treatments: A.S.C. tube in the middle behind both amps against the wall. This living room has open space on my left to the rest of my house. It would be a nightmare for me to describe the exact dimensions on my left wall. Nevertheless it has great acoustics.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): 60's,70's and 80's rock, Some metal, Oldies, but as of late (the last 6 years or so) Old Classic Jazz has been it for me along with Vocals, and Classical music. I also dig all kinds of Mexican music, Afo-Cuban rhythms etc.
System Goals/Comments: To stop trying to improve the sound. I've been fortunate enough to live a couple of miles away from Jeff's Sound Values, I've purchased most of my equipment from him so he's allowed me to try different speakers that come his way, they are a GREAT bunch of guys, and no I don't work for them. I've tried Spendor 3/1's which have the purest midrange I've ever heard, unfortunately my room is too big for these I may purchase them for a second room. I've tried Audio Physic Virgos, they just didn't sound right in my set up, and I'm in the process of bringing home some Spendor S 100's. So far my Klipsch have out done them all.
System Strengths: System synergy, Dynamics, imaging, truth of timbre, soundstage... Absolutely AWESOME.
System Weaknesses: lowest octave, and my wife not going along with the idea of putting the speakers farther away from the back wall. They are currently about 4 ft. away from this wall.
Video/HT System: Separate
