MarkPR2's The 2013 System System
IP Address: 98.85.227.140 Last Update: December 11, 2014 at 12:13:03
Amplifier: Parasound A21
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Wyred4Sound STP-SE. I like this thing. It has a "phase" button on the remote - nearly every recording sounds better one way than the other. And there's no way of knowing in advance - you've got to click the button. Update: The phase button quit working. I guess I clicked it too much. But it doesn't matter. Since I've gotten the directionality of the power cords correct everything sound correct.
Speakers: Gallo Nucleus Reference 3.5 w/ Mapleshade heavy bases and brass footers
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Ayre CX-7eMP
Turntable/Phono Stage: VPI Scoutmaster 2, Lyra Kleos cartridge, 47 Laboratory Phono Cube.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Omega Mikro throughout, some with active shielding, some not. Omega Mikro power cords are as important as any component in my system. You must find the correct direction, either "Red" or "Blue". For example, the Blue cord on the CD player was a major upgrade.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Mapleshade Samson rack.
Tweaks: Mapleshade triplepoint heavyfeet. Ok, I got my new turntable and it just wouldn't open up. It sounded like a record player, even if better than my old one. I finally broke down and lifted it off the VPI feet and put it on the old style Mapleshade triple point brass feet - eureka!
Room Size (LxWxH): 15 ft. x 13 ft. x 8 ft.
Room Comments/Treatments: None at this point.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Jazz, rock...
System Goals/Comments: A natural, live sound.
System Strengths: Admittedly it looks and sounds like and advertisement for Mapleshade and Insound, but it sounds great.
System Weaknesses: The soundstage isn't as tall as I would like.
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Weight training for health and fitness (I'm middle-aged and skinny). Reading. Practicing guitar. Anti-aging.
