Creek OBH-10 remote control

Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Marantz Pro Series Rack Mount Player (Vertical)

Also a cool little Motorola Simplefi (ok) to play the 110GB of music the internet has provided me on my Compaq Proliant Raid Array in my home office. (thank you internet!)

Turntable/Phono Stage: A stored Marantz SLT that rarely comes out
Other Source(s): Marantz 10B

3340 Teac (stored)

747 Akai (stored)

Other stuff, and a tie in to my other large system used for home theater

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: 10 gauge lamp cord straight from home-depot and a large number of cheap but matching RCA patch cables all old and probably from radio shack. Sorry, I guess I just cant tell the difference with these outlandish interconnects.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): 1 Custom Power Relay combining 2 110vac 30 amp circuts allowing the 7c to turn on the massive load and share the two circuts. Working on modding a 7C to have remote control volume, input selection, balance, and power on/off using some Creek equip for the remote parts. The 7C will retain all the vintage parts but have motorised ALPS pots and switches in it.
Tweaks: Velodyne ULD 18 cabinet, replaced servo woofer with 18" dual voice coil (wont mention name but decent) so I can use the 510m on it with the DBX120x. Also modified the factory S8rs by replacing the passive with another LE15a.
Room Size (LxWxH): 25 x 32 x 10
Room Comments/Treatments: None really, just decorated and room has a large tapestry.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Vintage Jazz, Singers-Standards, Some Classical, Classic Rock. Big fan of Johnny Hartman, John Coletrane, Erroll Garner, Gene Harris, Dave Brubeck, Martin Denny, Stan Getz, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, You get the drift....
System Goals/Comments: All Marantz-JBL, solid investment appreciating eqipment. I am more a collector and appreciate the workmanship than the sound it produces. Also like the "singing furnature" look and have hid everything in the C58. I have been into audio stuff going on 35 years, my goal is to purchase and keep equipment that will be appreciation instead of the latest-greatest stuff. I am not an "audiophile" but more of an engineer and have lots of hands on with this stuff.
System Strengths: Great clean sound, impressive looking, very collectable.
System Weaknesses: NOT ENOUGH BASS even with 90" of low freq drivers, until I threw in the Modified ULD 18 driven by the DBX120x and second 510m. Now its about right, clean, deep and has the presence of the 4 channel JBL ensemble with 4 375s and 4 075s and the kick of the 6 LE15s to boot on top of great mid bass punch the Paragon gives. Could use another 18 sub and another 510m amp, then I would say it would be about perfect to reproduce a live performance in a manner that would be impressive and in the upper 150+ DB level if desired but still retaining a clean but somewhat vintage sound. The system is capable of turing off/bypassing all transistor components and just running two channel with the Paragon/7c/9s for the audiophile friends who got to hear it, but it sounds pretty weak that way to my taste and so I'll add the second two channels, 1000 watts and the sub, then it all blends together in harmony. I tried to stay as true to vintage as I can, but you got to enjoy what you hear, and I like to feel it too.
