Amplifier: B&K 2500II mated to a Sherwood Newcastle 925
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Paradigm Atoms and a pair of rebuilt Infinity 2500 ca.1980. I use the Atoms mostly.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Technics for making tapes (easy to program) and a Sony DVD7000
Turntable/Phono Stage: An old Akai I rescued out of the garbage at my son's dorm. AT91 cartridge.
Other Source(s): Old Magnavox and SonyES tapedecks
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: DIY's from TNT-Audio recipe, mogami's cheapest speaker zip cord, some AR's, monster cable, and even radio shack. Audioquest power cord on amp.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Triplite LC1800, AH!AC offset killer, sand filled speaker stands
Tweaks: Turntable- lots of plastersine clay, hand made tonearm lift and rest.
Room Size (LxWxH): 22 x 12 x 9
Room Comments/Treatments: Old barn beams in the ceiling. Cement slab floor with carpet.Bass dead. Near field speaker placement.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Opera, African, Cuban, Choral, hell just about anything except pop. Did I mention Opera?
System Goals/Comments: Sweet midrange, accurate bass and highs. Quiet noise floor.
System Strengths: Sounds sweet at low listening levels.
System Weaknesses: A new turntable is first on the need to buy list.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Sony wega 32"
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Sherwood Newcastle 925/B&K 2500 II(5x60w).
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Paradigm Atoms all around. Center is a C-170
PDR10 sub.
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sony DVD7000, Sony and Zenith VCR's
Other HT Gear: Sound Design Racks
Comments on HT System: I like movies from the 30's-50's so surround sound is overkill.
