IP Address: 69.230.108.14 | Last Update: January 16, 2012 at 10:18:19 |
Amplifier: | Heathkit W5-M Monoblocks. Rebuilt from ground up using all new caps (Solens for power supply caps(not electrolytics) sonicaps, vitamin Q's in signal), riken resisters (misc), transformers (Hammonds), Russian 6L6's, RCA 6cg7 blkplt, modified power supply section I used same values, but solens instead of electrolytic s. |
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): | Aikido from John Broskie's site using 6SN7's Finest kit you can build. Quiet! |
Speakers: | Egg shaped speakers from France with Focal drivers. These have a 7 1/2" mid and inverted kevlar dome tweeter but that's about all I know about them because I'm the third owner and can't find much info on them. If anyone knows about these please write me. They stand about 18" high, are egg shaped plaster of paris. Heavy, a little weird looking, but sound fantastic and are really fast. My LF source are DIY boxes with 12" Eminence Kappa Pro's and a 10" Titanic subwoofer. |

Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): | Blanced power tranformers sourced from ebay.(wired myself) 2 dedicated 120volt lines. |
Tweaks: | Braided 120v.cords using 2ea 20, 18, 16, and 14ga. wire with each cord. Hubbell 5262ig and P&S outlets. Using Maple and cardboard under components... yields the best results. |
Room Size (LxWxH): | 17' x 18' x 8' |
Room Comments/Treatments: | I built 6-3'x5'x4" sound panels and 6-18"x48" bass traps using John Risch's formula. Stunning results. Very hard to build though. If you have the money, just buy some. |
