freakmachine's Bob System
Last Update: June 12, 2003 at 13:45:14 IP Address: 129.116.92.109
Amplifier: Exposure Super XXV integrated
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): nun
Speakers: ADS L810
Vandersteen Model 1 (not 1B or 1C, Just 1)
(viva la '80's)
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: NAD C541
Turntable/Phono Stage: B&O Beogram 1800 ('80's strike again)

Creek something-or-other phono stage

Other Source(s): ADS C2 casette deck (don't use her much but she looks pretty)

Technics something-or-other tuner (radio bites - it doesn't see much use)

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Jumper cables (kidding - I don't know what brand. Just some fat wires I bought a long time ago)

Decware silver reference cables for cd to amp

Room Size (LxWxH): 11'? x 12'? x 8'
Room Comments/Treatments: See system weaknesses below.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock (Zep, Floyd, Coldplay, Beatles, Hendrix, etc)

Jazz (Miles, Wes, Coltrane, Metheney, etc)

Classical (Mozart, Bach, Nina Kotova, etc)

"World Music": lame marketing jargon for anything white teenagers don't buy (Habib Koite, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan)

Other Good Stuff (Loreena Mckennit, Dead Can Dance, Ani Di Franco, etc.)

Blues (don't like much, but I do quite like Skip James. Yes, I heard of him in "Ghost World." Great movie. I like Jimi's and Zep's blues tunes.)

I will add stuff as I think of it. I don't like muzak or country. Occasionally I will like a rap song, but not too often.

System Goals/Comments: Get a better phono setup. Maybe Rega? Dunno.

Get more albums I really like first to justify the above expenditure.

I like to get lost in the music, If I find that upgrading facilitates this, I will go for it.

System Strengths: Got most of it for half price or so. :)

It sounds good to me, but I haven't heard a great many worthwhile systems. Maybe I just don't know what I am missing.

System Weaknesses: Turntable stands out most!

The room is less than ideal - not much room leftover with my bed in there.

Video/HT System: None
Comments on HT System: Got Better things to do.

Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Swimming, Hiking in nature, yoga, live music (mostly classical - no cigarette smoke!)
