Music Preferences and Comments: | |
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | opera, classical, jazz, '50s rock and pop |
System Goals/Comments: | Non-fatiguing musicality. |
System Strengths: | Depth, tonality, midrange, fine detail, retrieval of ambience, soundstaging, warmth, musicality. Highs and upper mids are stunning and seem to go on forever, almost to a fault. |
System Weaknesses: | Bass: loosey-goosey, and not too deep--just kind of 'there,' or sometimes not, though its integration with the rest of the frequency range is seamless, thanks to the full-range electrostatic panels; dynamics: limited by the speakers. MF DAC allows the system to play much louder on CD's without irritation. Update: the PS Audio xStream Statement IC (DAC-to-preamp) has transformed my CD playback. It restores the low end, and gives music the low frequency foundation it needs. Not recommended for a dark-sounding system, but for me it does exactly what I'd hoped it would do. Bravo! |
