Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Very broad taste across genres, very narrow taste as to what is "good" -- I suppose you could call me extremely choosy or idiosyncratic, depending on your POV. In particular, I enjoy baroque and pre-baroque classical, electronica/ambient, country & western, and good low-fi/indy rock/pop of whatever vintage (from Neil Young to Fountains of Wayne) |
System Goals/Comments: | Involving and fun. |
System Strengths: | Goodness |
System Weaknesses: | Having purchased equipment, my ability to buy everything else is limited! |
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: | Panasonic 50 inch plasma |
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: | Sony dts receiver, 100 w/ch |
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): | Higher-end Polk stuff |
Sources (DVD/VCR): | Pioneer universal player (does multichannel SACD and DVD-A) |
Comments on HT System: | What is scary about this system is how good it sounds with relatively modest equipment -- there are now a few really good multichannel SACDs and DVD-As that hint at the awesome potential of surround -- I used to be a 2-channel true believer, but no more. There will be a purist surround market that will be like the purist vinyl market, small but respectable. |
