Turntable/Phono Stage: | None. |
Other Source(s): | iPod 160Gb loaded with the best music from the past 50 years - oldies, classic rock, blues, surf and some disco - recorded in Apple Lossless from over 500 CDs. Used with Shure E530 earbuds or the system in my family room (and outdoor speakers). |

Room Size (LxWxH): | 17 feet x 14 feet x 8 |
Room Comments/Treatments: | Room is dedicated for listening. Treatments include ASC Tube Traps and Room Tunes products and 3 X 20 amp dedicated circuits. A neighbor who saw all the Tube Traps called it 'Stereohenge'. |
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Classic rock, newer rock, pop, blues, some jazz. |
System Goals/Comments: | My goal is to reproduce the music as naturally as possible with a wide dynamic range, accurate tonality, articulation of inner detail, with 3-dimensional imaging and soundstage. |
System Strengths: | Very musical, wide dynamics, natural tone, great image and soundstage. Terrific bass. |
System Weaknesses: | In the smaller room now, the soundstage is not as deep and expansive. The sound is a little more intimate and more immediate since it's closer in perspective. |
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: | Although I am a two channel music die hard, I finally sprung for a Samsung 52" LCD Series 7 flat screen and surround system for my new family room in 2008. |
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: | Yamaha A-820 |
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): | Front - Epos M5i's, Rears - little Harmon Kardons Sub - Hsu STF-1 |
Sources (DVD/VCR): | Harmon Kardon DVD 48 |
Other HT Gear: | Monster HTS 1000MkIII power conditioner, two outdoor speakers |
Comments on HT System: | Adequate for DVDs but great for listening to my iPod through as background music. |
