Sources:

Other Source(s): Marantz 115B AM/FM tuner

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:

Van der Hul The Bay C5 Hybrid interconnect CD to amp

Cambridge Audio Studio Reference 2 interconnects tuner and T/T to amp

Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Amp and tuner sit on CD player on cones directly on brick hearth.
Tweaks: Tannoys have had internal bracing and second rear panel of 19mm pine plywood.

3mm felt glued to compression chamber etc

All crossover capacitors changed - critical HF caps to Mundorf Silver/Oil; others to Sonicaps.

Rotary HF energy and rolloff swiches hardwired with silver-coated OFC 14awg wire.

Spring-mounted cable connectors replaced by binding posts

Room Size (LxWxH): 6 metres x 5 metres x 4 metres
Room Comments/Treatments: Sunken 1970s 'conversation pit', concrete floor with carpet, high sloping roof, raised wooden floor dining area, plasterboard/rendered brick walls/limited curtains on windows. Good balance of hard/soft; good 'non-box' shape. Speakers sit up on raised brick fireplace hearth. Overall, quite a 'live' sound.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Varied! Beatles/Stones, britpop, rock, country, jazz, classical, female voice, world, chill
System Goals/Comments: Very listenable and non-fatiguing. Upgrading of Tannoys and addition of supertweeters made a big difference, as did earlier upgrading of CD player, addition of sub and VDH and Cambridge interconnects. Behringer tube equaliser has made a big difference with mid-bass hump from horn-loaded enclosures, Tannoy 3K peak and sibilence
System Strengths: see above
System Weaknesses: Tannoys would welcome more power.

Needs a better FM aerial.

Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Sony 68cm
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Cambridge Audio A500 integrated amp - 65 wpc into 8 ohms
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Monitor Audio MA-202. 8 inch 2-way floor standers. Rated 15 - 100w, 90 db sensitivity. New kevlar double magnet 93db tweeters from Total Recoil and attenuated to match MA driver with Mills Resistors L-pad.

Original Bennic HF caps changed to Sonicaps.

; re-wired internally with 14awg silver-coated OFC

Dream Acoustics 12' downward-firing 250W sub

Sources (DVD/VCR): Toshiba DVD/CD 24 bit

Comments on HT System: Not surround sound, but very much better than the TV speakers! Plays CDs
