krikor's Brother's Borrowed Fun System
Last Update: April 08, 2005 at 15:15:41 IP Address: 67.149.89.19
Amplifier: Adcom GFA-535II
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Reference Line Preeminence One passive
Speakers: KEF Reference Series 105/3
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Older Denon something (not sure of model)
Turntable/Phono Stage: Technics SLB3, Grado Black, Music Hall PhonoPack
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Audioquest Type 4, Adcom braided interconnects, Monster Reference Interconnects
Room Comments/Treatments: Basement, low ceiling, layout mandates somewhat nearfield listening
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Wide range of rock and jazz
System Goals/Comments: This system was put together from a hodge-podge of unused equipment from myself and my brother's father-in-law. Great sound for what is a 'free' borrowed system for my brother.
System Strengths: Tremendous bass and warmth, as is characteristic of the KEF speakers. Somewhat dark, but great dynamics.
System Weaknesses: Room prevents proper orientation for good soundstage/imaging.
Video/HT System: None
