demian's Main system System
Last Update: June 15, 2005 at 07:01:36 IP Address: 68.65.48.154
Amplifier: Jolida 801A Integrated Tube Amp (70Wpc) heavily modified (w/ Tung Sol 6550 triple getter blackplates)

Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Handmade (by Montana for tubes) 3-way speakers.

Pair of Sound Dynamics RTS-3's

Six Sound Dynamics 300TI's--3 way, titanium dome tweeter, 8' woofer, 4ohm

Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony SCD-C555ES SACD/CD changer;

Monarchy Upsampling DIP feeding Modwright PT P3-A DAC with CI PS;

Other Source(s): Old Laptop (foobar or JRMC)-->M-Audio Audiophile USB-->Monarchy DIP-->Modwright P3A
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Leftovers from the audiophile who got me into this hobby (will add later); copper tape speaker wire and silver interconnects.

Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monster HTS2000

Will build a Lack rack soon.

Tweaks:

MSB Digital Director--digital switcher and jitter reduction

Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): musical omnivore
System Goals/Comments: Highly musical and able to competently handle all genres of music without taking out a 2nd mortgage.
System Strengths: Great sound for the money (less than $5K). I've got the system at a good cost/benefit point. System isn't music genre specific: it handles jazz to rock to rap to female vocals to classicial well.

System Weaknesses: Terrible room (basically a 2000 sq ft open floor with lots of glass) means not much bass and tons of reflection (I'm currently doing a nearfield setup to alleviate the latter). Also, I need a better shelf.

Video/HT System: Separate
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: cheap Sony 5.1 receiver
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): various spare speakers
Sources (DVD/VCR): cheap Sony DVD
Comments on HT System: I used to actually care about HT (not sure why since I don't really like movies) before an audiophile got me addicted to Hi-Fi.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Gardening, Acoustic Guitar, Snowboarding, Soccer, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Politics
