Last Update: December 31, 2004 at 13:59:14 IP Address: 219.88.38.43
Amplifier: Pair of ASL 845 monoblocks, rolled with NOS tubes, as follows from front to back, pairs of 1956 CBS 5692, 1958 CBS 5692, 1952 Slyvania 6SN7 Tall boy and stock ASL 845.
Pair of GEC KT66 grey glass in the 6L6 socket
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Bottlehead Foreplay, 230 v transformer from Black Art of Australia, pair of RFT 12AU7 (ecc802s) upgraded the capacitors with Auricaps
Speakers: Bottlehead Straight 8, with Auricaps and mills and renkins and bigger AlphaCore inductors
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: California Audio Labs Delta transport
California Audio Labs Alpha (non 24/96)
1957 GE 5751 black plates
home made AES/EBU interconnet (CVH receipe)
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: AlphaCore Python copper Biwire
Jena Labs Trio interconnects (4) 2 for Foreplay to ASL's and 2 for CALs to Foreplay
CVH POwer cords (flavour 2) x 3 for the Pre, and the monoblocks
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): none, plain old racks, drilled some holes for the cable, will make some spikes for it, and get some slabs to go on the floor under it...that's for laters
Tweaks: Soundcare inverted spikes for the Foreplay Pre, and the CAL Delta Transport - really works, will isolate speakers/power cables of the floor, using several of 3-piece wood piece glued in 'U' shape and suspend with fishing lines.. ;)
Room Comments/Treatments: carpeted, big windows and saved by the heavy curtains (whew)
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Choplin, 1930'40s Jazz, some late mid -late 90's dub (slower, relaxed version of techno, but more trippy) early 80's rock, Brook Fraser, Nora Jones, Beethoven, anything from 'session on west 54th' :)
System Goals/Comments: Coherence, clearness, refined texture and smoothness of concerts and live performance were my aims and i achieved it
System Strengths: piano, voices, incredible exposure to layers and dimensions of individual instruments/players placed in orchestras to be heard ! unbelivible!
Piano, fingers movement are very imaginable, great pleasure at that
System Weaknesses: doesn't rock too well
Video/HT System: None
