Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock, Courtry Rock, Jazz. Well perty much anything other then Opera, RAP or Hip Hop.
System Goals/Comments: Addition of Power line filtration. Acoustic TX and possibly a subwoofer to take some of the load off the main drivers. No plans to change Speakers/CDP/Amp. In final tweak and wringout stage.
System Strengths: To my ear it combines the best of both worlds. Very resolving but very forgiving. Probably the combination of speakers/CD/amp. All 3 have a good touch of tube sound in the midrange. Bass is extremely articulate, clean and fast. Highs delicate but very extended. Great job of recreating acoustic space. Very low noise floor.
System Weaknesses: Hard to find fault. I would say the low 85db effeciency of the FS688's rules out the use of low power tube amps. No deep bass below 50hz. Amp although very quiet does have a small amount of hiss when turned up very high and you are about 1-2 feet away. So I would have to say on a absolute scale a little more low bass, higher effeciency and lower noise floor would be the areas to improve on.
Video/HT System: None
