Music Preferences and Comments: | |
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Rock, Courtry Rock, Jazz. Well perty much anything other then Opera, RAP or Hip Hop. |
System Goals/Comments: | Addition of Power line filtration. Acoustic TX and possibly a subwoofer to take some of the load off the main drivers. No plans to change Speakers/CDP/Amp. In final tweak and wringout stage. |
System Strengths: | To my ear it combines the best of both worlds. Very resolving but very forgiving. Probably the combination of speakers/CD/amp. All 3 have a good touch of tube sound in the midrange. Bass is extremely articulate, clean and fast. Highs delicate but very extended. Great job of recreating acoustic space. Very low noise floor. |
System Weaknesses: | Hard to find fault. I would say the low 85db effeciency of the FS688's rules out the use of low power tube amps. No deep bass below 50hz. Amp although very quiet does have a small amount of hiss when turned up very high and you are about 1-2 feet away. So I would have to say on a absolute scale a little more low bass, higher effeciency and lower noise floor would be the areas to improve on. |
