Last Update: December 07, 2005 at 00:35:26 IP Address: 12.220.16.73
Amplifier: Yamaha HTR-5790 AV Receiver
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Yamaha NS A200XT Front towers X2
Polk Audio Monitor30 x2, Monitor40 x2, CS1 x1, PSW10 x1
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony RCD-W500C 5CD changer/cd burner; Sansui VRDVD4005 DVD-RW recorder/VCR b4 they got cheap; Shinsonic DVD/MP3/Kodak picture disc player ( + 400 CD's) ( DVD 2)
Turntable/Phono Stage: 80's vintage Sony Direct Drive turntable with strobe and Audio-Technica DR300E Cartridge (+ 800 albums)
Other Source(s): SONY-ES TC-RX77ES Cassette deck (+400 titles)
PIONEER CLD-980 CD/CVD/LD Laser Disc player (+100 titles)
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Acoustic Research Pro Series II speaker cables directly input into all speakers (no banana plugs)Digital optical audio (Phillips) connectors between the Sony burner, the Sansui DVD Burner, and from the TV and the Yamaha receiver (The TV hasn't been mentioned yet)
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Back up battery power for the TV bulb, Two high end surge cable/110v protectors w/ lifetime warranties (sorry about the brand but they are buried behind the system but I know they are just fine)
Tweaks: The TV is a 42 inch HDTV LCD projection system (Hitachi 42V715) that is 15 inches deep. So far I am very happy with it. It is in a small room (see below). The stand is integrated. See Hitachi.com/us.
Room Size (LxWxH): 20 x 12 x 10
Room Comments/Treatments: Well I had the TV in front of the fireplace (not used) but I am going to move everything around with a metal and glass rack for the stereo stuff that matches the base for the TV. Going to build a rolling base (4" tall x 18" deep x 6 feet long) for it all to sit on to enable access to all the cables and such. It is hard to explain without seeing the room. I would be happy to send a pic afterwards.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Blues, Van Morrison, Santana, PINK FLOYD (#1), 60-70's R&R (Zep, Doors, Yes, etc), anything I have on vinyl, classical since I am a musician, Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Vivaldi, etc, But mostly R&R
System Goals/Comments: Well, to have a house or a room big enough to build a system much bigger than I have, and to have the space to get into the audiophile machinery that is out there. Of course that requires a major income change. I would like to have a system like my frield in Tampa, Fla, wwho has a big room to put his $20K projection TV/audio system that is run by his 78 pound Shourbourne amp + pre-amp. It is incredible.
System Strengths: Within the limits of my house and room, it is definitely the Yamaha receiver and the Polk speakers. They are both the best bang for the buck as far as audio. Second I would highly recommend any TV that Hitachi has out there. They are excellent, and if you get on a forum through Google or elsewhere, we are all happy consumers
System Weaknesses: The size of the room in my little house. If I could put this system in twice the room, it would still rock. I am going on 50 years old, and have just recently upgraded, and I am very happy.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Hitachi 42V715 HDTV 42 inch LCD projection
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Yamaha HTR-5790 AV Receiver
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Yamaha NS A200XT Front Main Towers X2
Polk Audio Monitor 30 x2, 40x2, CS1 x1, PS10 x1
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sansui VRDVD4005 DVD/VCR Recorder; Shinsonic DVD-3838 DVD/Kodak/Mp3 PLayer (DVD-2)
Comments on HT System: I am thinking of replacing the Yamaha towers with the smaller but more compatible Polk Audio Monitor 70 series towers and using the yamahas to build the upstairs bedroom surround system. the yamahas are 6 ohm and all the polks are 8 ohm. any help would be appreciated.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: 1975 Corvette, 1969 40 foot Stardust Cruiser housboat, 1995 18.5 foot Bryant runabout (boat),Skiing/tubing, bicycling, tennis, golf
