DougE's DougE's "while I'm at work I better have a System"- System

Amplifier: Antique Sound Lab Orchid. 2a3 integrated that gets the tone and flow of music right.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: Totem Arro. Small and attractive to fit into office space. Mahagony blends beautifully with office furniture and many people stop and say "dem shu R some purty speakers! wht'r them lightbulb-y thangs?" Ok, my clients are actually not that hillbilly, but you really should hear some of the things people say!
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Toshiba SD-3960. Bought cuz fine folks here at AA said it's sumthin. Well, I've listened to it 3 times in last year. I guess it's good but at work I just can't keep changing CDs!
Turntable/Phono Stage: Ok, if I can't change a 60 minute CD at work, you know I'm not into 30 minute LPs!
Other Source(s): iPod--350 of my favorite cds at my fingertips and shuffle to keep the fun going. Most often I listen to my local Serious (classical) station on fm using Cambridge T500.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: AR int from the Best Buy (again) cuz I'm a follower of what you say here at the Asylum! DIY Depot solid core 12 guage copper speaker cables.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monster $50 extendo. Wouldn't use any except it's an older building...
Tweaks: Custom made 8" stand for the amp to perch on above the Lilliputian cd player. Stained to look nice on mahagony credenza.
Room Size (LxWxH): 14 x 12 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: It's an office! Acoustical drop ceiling and carpet. Nice carpet, actually, and the acoustics aren't bad.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Serious music on radio. Station is from local college and plays alot of Bach. That's cool; I like Bach.
System Goals/Comments: Listenable for 12 hours at a time. Bass, but not the pounding kind--just enough to give weight and body. Can't piss off my business partner next door!
System Strengths: I recall a great demo of the Totem Arro by the designer, Vince, at CES a few years ago. He turned one speaker 180degrees and the other still faced forward. Wouldn't you know it--the things imaged like banshees. That's what I get in my office--no, not a speaker turned facing away, just a great soundstage that doesn't call attention to the speakers. Better yet, at low volumes they fill my office with gorgeous, inspiring music. Carpe Diem!
System Weaknesses: 3 watts and low sensitivity speakers--there's not much "jump" to this sytem. Also, I only got to write it off once (I think).
Video/HT System: None
