IP Address: 198.78.11.114 Last Update: July 23, 2007 at 07:50:41
Amplifier: Rega Brio 3 integrated amp, Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amp
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: Paradigm Focus on stands
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Technics SL-PD687 5-CD changer circa 1995
Turntable/Phono Stage: Acoustic Research AR XA & Shure M75 cartridge. See closeup photo: http://www.geocities.com/danieldust_99/arxa2007.jpg
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Tributaries 16 gauge/OEM junk
Tweaks: Turntable: tonearm is rewired with Cardas 33 AWG wire. Dynamat has been applied to the underside of the metal plinth, and custom made adjustable aluminum cone feet installed. Lead melted into one side of motor pulley. Placed on top of granite countetop remnant on a shelf in a closet.

Speakers & speaker stands Partially sand-filled metal stands placed on top of 2" thick black granite slabs. 1" thick granite is placed between speakers and stands, and Blu-tack-like product placed between everything.

Much of the above is to combat the effects of the suspended hardwood floors in my home.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): progressive/avant rock, jazz fusion, UK and Scandinavian folk, '70s electronic music and more
System Goals/Comments: To get better than average sound (especially from vinyl) for a reasonable price ... prferably without buying anything made in China.
System Strengths: Minimalistic, affordable, relatively uncolored sound (hopefully).
System Weaknesses: Limited bass and soundstage. Turntable and CD player need to be upgraded.
Video/HT System: None
