Amplifier: Various tube amps, including a heavily-modded Citation II, a homebrew 2A3, and a home brew 813 ("the City" as my wife calls it.)
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Various, including stripped and modded PAS-4 (decent phono section!) DIY 8233-based/xfrmr out pre.
Speakers: REALLY like my Omega 3 XRS. Also have Hawthorne Audio Silver Iris's, Spendor 3/1's, and various others.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Samsung HD-841 (modded) as CDT to heavily modded/stripped ART DIO DAC w/nickel core/silver OPT's.
Turntable/Phono Stage: A small collection, but favs are Thorens TD-125 w/Blue Note U3 Sig/Dyna 10x5 nude and a Technics SP-25 w/SME III. Lots of cartridges, mostly MM. Just now getting into LOMC.
Other Source(s): ROKU Soundbridge M1000
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Current fav is Mapleshade Double Golden Helix; also have and use DIY J.Risch/Belden 2X89259 crossed, Goertz, DIY CAT 5, DIY HD, etc. Interconnects vary depending on source and whatever else I've got in the system, and include Kimber KCAG and Silver Streak, VdH "The One," MIT Shotgun and 330i, AQ Emeralds, ad infinitum ...
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Antique solid white oak dry sink, converted into a gear rack (very solid and heavy!). Panamax line conditioner/filter for line sources.
Tweaks: Caig De-oxit, BDR cones, various brass cones, maple and ash planks, etc.
Room Size (LxWxH): 22' x 22' x 9'
Room Comments/Treatments: Heavy carpeting, with thick Persian rug in front of listening area. No specific room treatments.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Very Eclectic. Classical, jazz, blues, 70's rock, etc.
System Goals/Comments: Accurate timbre and pitch. Appropriate "scale" and dynamics.
System Strengths: Analog playback is better than it should be, and what I sit down to listen ... Digital is not offensive, and with a good CD, enjoyable, but still background when I'm working or cooking.
System Weaknesses: The frequency extremes. Analog could be more "palpable." Digital ... see above.
Video/HT System: None
