Last Update: October 03, 2000 at 17:13:06 IP Address: 152.163.207.186
Amplifier: Convergent Audio Technology SL-1 LE
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Jadis JP80 MC
Speakers: Avalon Eidelon
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony sacd
Turntable/Phono Stage: Clearaudio Reference Turntable; Souther arm; Accurate Cartridge
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Purist Audio's Dominus speaker cable; Siltech gold interconnect; NBS Statement interconnect; FIM power cords; Electraglide Fat boy and PT power cord.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Room Tunes rack
Tweaks: Black Diamond shelf and assorted cones. Silent Running Audio isolation base for turntable; Walker motor control with Walker points for turntable; Special bases for CAT amps; Harmonix isolation pucks;
Room Size (LxWxH): 32ft. x 13 ft. x 7ft.
Room Comments/Treatments: No real room treatments. My basement is my listening space. Due to concrete floor, wooden paneling on block wall, and suspended-tile ceilings this room is rather "dead". I believe additional height and width would assist in allowing the system to further open up
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Jazz, rock, reggae, classical, alternative.
System Goals/Comments: My system has achieved much of what I believe a system in this price range is capable of. I need to retain patience in drawing the most from my turntable. CD through the Sony is quite good.
System Strengths: Musical as I've experienced. Great soundstage and imaging. Fantastic bottom end. Sparkling highs. A midrange that is so involving. Truth in timbre. Seldom overstates what is presented in the cd or lp. Sounds consistently good regardless of music genre. Hard rock to harpsichord to Ella.
System Weaknesses: Very, very pricey. Room is inadequately sized, limiting the systems full potential.
Video/HT System: None
