Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): About 2,000 LP's:50's Rock, Getting into 50's-60's Sinatra-Dino-Julie London, 60's thru 80's Country,70's Classic Rock, 70'sFunk, 70's Prog, 70's Hard Rock/Metal(Sabbath RULES), British Folk Rock, 80's College Rock, Punk, 80's Metal(NOT Hair Bands),90's Alternative/Punk, Thrash, Doom/Stoner Rock(Not into Death or Black Metal),Getting into Classical(no piano please). I dislike most saxophone and piano, so Jazz is pretty much out!
Approximately 200 cassettes recorded back in the '80's and 90's from friends' collections (remember the old "Home taping is killing the record industry" logos)oops.
Approx. 500 CD's.
System Goals/Comments: Inexpensive, and to my ears, proves that vintage mixed with relatively "current" equipment can provide a true insight into the "high fidelity" experience.
System Strengths: Brings out the formerly hidden from me subtle(and some not so subtle) nuances of my music collection.
System Weaknesses: Trying not to think about that right now. ;)
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Panasonic TH-42PX75U 42" Plasma
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Kenwood VR-309 HTIB circa 1999
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Original Advent for center, designated Kenwood Fronts swapped to Rears, Original Advents for Fronts and no sub woofer. Have receiver set to "no sub".
Sources (DVD/VCR): Samsung DVD-1080P7 up converting DVD player
Panasonic PV-1080P7 SVHS
Other HT Gear: Comcast cable HD
Scientific Atlanta"Explorer 8300HD" HD cable/DVR box.
Comments on HT System: Apartment living rules out a sub, but Advents kick out impressive bass without upsetting the neighbors. I'm happy with the sound. My receiver is too old for HDMI, so I use a digital optical(toslinc) cable for "surround sound".
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Interests: Traveling to exotic locales
Hobbies: Meeting/Satisfying exotic/erotic women
Occupation: International Man of Leisure/Hedonist
