System Goals/Comments: | I have a variety of systems for a variety of sounds to stop the buying merry-go-round. I'll use some different speakers with the Cary Amp later. Just trying different things out. |
System Strengths: | Midrange purity and immediacy from the SET amp -- it's an outstanding sounding amp. I will keep this amp for life. The electrostats are very good, but the bass is too strong. I was amazed that the Cary SET could drive them. The Cary CD player is terrific, and the headphones sound terrific too. |
System Weaknesses: | My Proac speakers mate exceptionally well with the Cary SET amp (my best sound), but for awhile they are being used with another amp. The electrostats are not the best speaker for this amp, but it sounds reasonably good to me. The bass is too strong on the electrostats, no matter what amp I use -- I should try plugging the port. |
