IP Address: 74.69.172.122 Last Update: March 05, 2016 at 06:44:43
Amplifier: Pathos Classic One Mk III (I can't remember what tubes I have in it at the moment)Virtual Dynamics Power III PC
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None with Pathos. Heavily modded Bottlehead Foreplay II in closet along with NAD C 370 and PSB 4Ts. Use a NAD 3020 and PSB Alphas with Walmart Cyberhome DVD player for bedroom (great for the money!!).
Speakers: Merlin TSM-MMe, Hsu VTF-1ii, Audioquest cable, Skylan Stands
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Rega Apollo, Audioquest King Cobra I/C and Virtual Dynamics Power III PC
Turntable/Phono Stage: Linn LP12 (circa 1986; yes, I'm that old; and no, it's not hard to keep the suspension tuned) with Origin Live DC motor advanced upgrade (yes, it's a worthwhile upgrade), new belt, springs, grommets, no Cirkus, Ittok VII (needs rewire probably) and AT150mlx, all on a target wall mount shelf; AES PH-1 Phonostage with oil caps and Sylvannia VT-229 tubes. 1/2M Kimber KCAG between phono stage and amp
Other Source(s): NAD tuner
ifi iDac2/Uptone Regen amber/Supra cable running off a old Dell Vista PC with JRiver and flac files, Audioquest Golden Gate to main system. Two Western Digital My Passport Ultra Slim 2TB external hard drives.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Old Audioquest Cobalt single wire speaker cable (reterminated by Audioquest in Nov 2006), variety of interconnects including Kimber KCAG, some Monster sh*t I bought 20 years ago now in the bedroom system, Rat Shack Gold Fusion, Audioquest King Cobra, and homemade cat 5 plenum 4-play recipe, also a couple of Virtual Dynamics Power III cords (did I get the name right?)
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Wiremold power strip, VPI 16.5 RCM, audioquest pucks
Room Size (LxWxH): 14 x 22 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: Books and cds line the wall behind speakers, rugs on floor in front, cushy furniture, wife in front of speakers dancing helps tremendously!
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Only the best! Mostly jazz and classical (Modern and Post-modern) and rock (Richard Thompson, Peter Case, Stones, Blodwyn Pig, anything good!), and real country: Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt, etc., etc., etc. Oh, and blues.
System Goals/Comments: Enjoy what I have. Rewire Ittok. Do I really need a better subwoofer?
System Strengths: Plays all types of music well. (Really--that is so important!) Good three-dimensionality, tone and pacing. Vivid sounding. Sounds alive. Very involving. I never feel critical when listening! (I hope I never eat those words--because I have so many times over the last 30 years.)
System Weaknesses: Not too much. Maybe bigger speakers and super-masculine amps for better full orchestra classical but even that I'm not sure of.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Samsung LN37B650
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: 2 channel NAD 370
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): PSB 4T
Sources (DVD/VCR): Samsung blu-ray BP1600
Comments on HT System: Netflix on a wireless connection to the blu-ray player is very useful and adds a lot of viewing content. Chromecast. Enjoyable system
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Reading, writing and Chinese algebra (you know...wine, women and song!)
