Last Update: July 12, 2004 at 18:39:15 IP Address: 64.166.225.175
Amplifier: 1) An inverted LM3875 (gaincard style) amp. I used matched carbon resistors, Nichicon MUSE caps, and schottkey diode bridges, and 150VA transformers for each channel.
2) Heath DA-281 (PP 7591s)
3) S-5 11MS8 amp
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): 1) Bottlehead Seduction upgraded PIO caps and vintage Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors, and Siemens CCa tubes.
2) Stock Little Rat
3) Bottlehead Foreplay stock
4)Bottlehead Foreplay based preamp with regulated external power supply (homemade).
Speakers: 1) My design using a Dynaudio D2/28S tweeter and a Tangband W4-616 woofer. They use a series crossover. I made the enclosure from 1' MDF.
2) Rectilinear III with rebuilt xovers.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: A modified Cambridge Audio CD4 as a transport. A zero oversampling TDA1543 based DAC using Black Gate caps.
Turntable/Phono Stage: 1) Thorens TD160
2) Sansui 3060
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Homemade interconnects using Neutrik connectors and 20 gauge magnet wire. 18 gauge solid core copper wire (from RaDiOsHaCk) speaker cable.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Home made surge protector.
Tweaks: Anything and everything.
Room Size (LxWxH): 30 x 15 x 8
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Almost anything. Favorite: any Verve Jazz.
System Goals/Comments: I'm building some 6B4G tube amps.
System Strengths: Pretty inexpensive; building it myself saves money, and I can build it to suit my tastes.
System Weaknesses: Not the most dynamic with the low powered amps, the speakers are only moderately efficient.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: 32' Sharp
Sources (DVD/VCR): DSS. VCR. DVD.
