Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): | None |

CD Player/DAC: | Denon DCD 1560 |
Turntable/Phono Stage: | Music Hall MMF-5 with stock Goldring cartridge |

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: | Standard issue lamp cord type speaker wire from Home Depot. Slightly higher quality than "included" interconnects |
Room Size (LxWxH): | 11.5' x 15.5' x 8' |
Room Comments/Treatments: | Speakers reside on long wall flanking 52" flat panel TV atop a 3 drawer riser measuring 17"high x 9'7" long x 22"deep. Turntable and electronics are situated on adjacent short wall. "Length" dimension of room listed here is misleading...There is a very large archway cut out of the opposite wall from main speakers which opens up into a 13.5' x 12' x 8' high adjoining room and this significantly influences acoustics. |
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Wide variety. Rock/Pop foremost followed closely by Jazz and Easy Listening. Occasionally, Country. Less often, Classical. Cannot abide Rap, Opera, or Bluegrass. |
System Goals/Comments: | I'd like to keep my system centered around the L65s for the foreseeable future. If a Mcintosh 4 or 5 channel integrated amp ever becomes available that "dances" with the L65s like Fred Astaire with Ginger Rogers, I'll probably go in debt over my head to afford it. |
System Strengths: | Very...very good little setup...euphonic well beyond the sum of its middle of the road parts. |
System Weaknesses: | It's no scintillating audiophile's rig. It's completely capable of pleasing my 50-something ears, even to the point of putting on "Kind of Blue" and dragging the recliner rocker to the sweet spot for "critical listening". I have no illusions, however, that it'd be tolerable to someone, say, used to listening to distilled-water-steam-cleaned "correct serial number" LPs on a Walker Proscenium thru a pair of Eidolons... |
