Music Used (Genre/Selections): | especially remastered versions of: rock/pop - all genres, jazz, trance, classical, modern. |
System Goals/Comments: | Must be cheap but still I try for accuracy of timbre, soundstage and controlled bass. |
System Strengths: | Not a great system - the Monitor Audio speakers make everything sound sweet, if a bit artifical, across the sound spectrum. Don't care for booming deep bass anyway, I like the thin British sound. The amp is sweet with the Valve Art KT88s - and now with JJ EL34s - less so with the JJ KT88 or the Electro Harmonics KT88. On the right night with the speakers moved to just the right location and playing a well recorded CD (like the ORIGINAL ABKCO CD 539 Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet) the system really sounds sweet. |
System Weaknesses: | Silver 6 speakers have a glare/sheen problem, system's cheap, appropriate funds are lacking, it needs another $10K put into it, I mean, $10K's not that much considering that I could be wanting a $100K system |
