Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): 60s/70s classic rock, classical (baroque), blues, reagee, zedeco, ragtime, new age/electronic, misc., hundreds of audiophile LPs, 4000 total LPs, most original label and pressings. only a handfull of CDs and cassette tapes, i prefer to concentrate on a single medium LP for music, VHS for video, although RTR is tempting.
System Goals/Comments: reliable, simple, maintence free, inexpensive, good bang for the buck, quality sound.
System Strengths: dynamics, musical, not finiky or biased, will play any music or recording well. I can not imagine having a system that dictates what I listen to.
System Weaknesses: ultra low bass, fine level detail. I currently live in a 1-br apt, so the rest of my audio stuff is in storage for the time being :(
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Panasonic 37" tube color TV (free)
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: as above
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): as above
Sources (DVD/VCR): Panasonic PV-8451 VHS deck $6 at Goodwill
Zenith DTT-900 TV converter box
Other HT Gear: no DVD, Blue Ray, HDTV, so on too pricy for me! (not available in Goodwill yet) besides as far as i am concerned there are very few good movies after VHS anyway - sad but true.
Comments on HT System: awesome combo for movies! nothing like comming home late at night and selecting one of 600 plus VHS tapes (average price $1 ea.) to watch on a big screen with Klipsch for speakers! via the Kenwood (don't have to worry about rentals!, don't like it - i donate it). Many old and very old classic & art movies dating back to the 20s! as well as many railroad, old west history, and educational tapes.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: LP record collecting, skating, hiking, camping, photography, biking, skiing, old west history, railroads, videos, books, travel.
