Amplifier: Ayre V3 (k version) power amp
100watts rms @8ohms
200watts rms @4ohms,It is left ON all the time and it gets hot but it sounds aweful when its cold.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None, they usually get in the way! the Ead 9000 dac drives amp directly via balanced HT "Prosilway mk2 inter conex.
Speakers: Von Schweikert Research VR 4.5s in natural cherry. 6 ohms,90db
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Enlightened Audio Designs DSP 9000 Series 3 Balanced DAC in Gold
Turntable/Phono Stage: E.A.D T 1000 transport with a Genesis Digital Lens version 2.7 workin some magic!

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Harmonic Technology Pro 11 speaker cables (2 pairs)and HT Prosilway Mk 2 Balanced from Dac to amp,NBS Profesional AES/EBU from Lens to Dac and an AudioTruth Optilink ST glass from the trasport to the Lens,Cant remember the number ,top one anyway. The Ayre has an NBS Signature ac cable going straight to the wall. The dac has a Cardas Hexlink 5 ac cable on it at the moment. The other ac cables are stock,at the moment! Would love to try the HT Pro 9 spkr cables and another NBS or Harmonic Tech ac cords on the power plant .
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): PS Audio Power Plant P300 AC regenerator that powers all the digital stuff and also the tv and vcr when required, .Home made 30mm marine ply and steel threaded rod rack with gear well spaced apart in a 2 and a half level, tiered horizontal layout.
Tweaks: Vibrapods seperating the top and bottom sections of the VR4.5 spkrs, Shun Mook ebony feet, Ceramic Composite Points, one homemade inner tube number,Caig pro gold and a Gryphon Excorsist system demagnatiser.
Room Size (LxWxH): 25ft x 15ft x 8ft
Room Comments/Treatments: Tne speakers are 10ft apart and 4.5 feet out firing down the length of the room. The room is on a concrete slab with plaster over concrete walls it is an irregular shape at the listening position and the 15ft wall behind the speakers is glass sliding doors with vertical blinds ( yuk!)There are Room Tunes in every corner and Combak Harmonix tuning dots on the glass. Also have a large v heavy leather modular 7 seater couch that improved the allready great bottom end in a big way! Huge well deliniated soundstage with superb Focus and depth,Very Tight Deep Unexagerated bass in this room.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): New Jazz,Progressive House,All of William Orbits "Strange Cargo" cds, Anything on the "Pork" label,The 2 latest "Delerium" cds,Most of the "Global Underground" series, some Folk, Trance,Ambient Electronica,70s and 80s rock, vocal groups like "The Nylons" and some Celtic (you gotta hear "The Afro -Celtic Sound System", great stuff! and some other worldy stuff, classical piano and accoustic guitar i like also.I CANNOT handle (C)RAP or whiney Country music at all.
System Goals/Comments: To reproduce ALL kinds of music well enough to let me forget about the equipment and be swept away by the music!
System Strengths: It does it!Goosebump city !! Big sweet spot/Rhythm/Timing/ Power an Delicacy.I could go on n on but this one does it all for me now,(still on a high from what the Power Plant has done for it!It has been a 4 year process and there has been a few speakers and amps thru here but there is now a musical synergy that really 'locks in" it is wonderful!I have no desire to change speakers, something of a first for me! I have had the VRs for over 18 months!,A Record!!
System Weaknesses: I spend too much time listening to it and fiddling with cable elavators and stuff that i dont get much else done sometimes. Its great fun tho ,this system is Very revealing and responds to tweaking with,I try not to move wires around too much cos it seems to upset ? things for a while after.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Loewe "Calida" 70 cm tv
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: just the AD converter to input signal to the EAD dac
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Only 2
Sources (DVD/VCR): Loewe Hi Fi VCR
Other HT Gear: none
Comments on HT System: The dialogue is in the center and the bass goes well below 20hz in here .With the width and depth of the soundstage i dont feel the need for more speakers.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Making compilation CDs on my computer.Relaxing and Making love.Fitness Instructor.
